The county seat of Bentonville was established soon after.

The county and town are named in honor of U.S Senator Thomas Hart Benton of Missouri, who was instrumental in helping the Arkansas Territory achieve statehood in 1836.

Incorporated in 1881 and named for railroad vice president Captain C.W. Rogers, the city of Rogers is located in Benton County approximately eight miles southeast of Bentonville.

The history of Rogers began with the railroad, which came into the area in 1881. B.F. Sikes, who owned the original 160 acres which became the town site, gave the railroad the land required for the tracks.
